Teapots

The origins of the teapot have been traced to China in the late 16th century. Early Yixing teapots were no bigger that n the tiny cups previously used for drinking tea. By the 17th century, tea had spread to civilized nations of the world. The first recorded advertisement for tea in London is dated 1658 and called a “China drinks… call Tcha, by other Nations Tay, alias Tee…” although coffee houses were already established, they began to add tea to their selections. Earthenware

Earthenware is made from clay fired at a temperature that is insufficiently hot to vitrify, or fuse, the component ingredients. This results in a porous, or non-watertight, pottery. (more…)
