Opposite to conventionally produced cotton, organic cotton grows without pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, chemical fertilizers or any other chemicals and that causes a big difference between them.

By production of non-organic cotton (conventional cotton) more chemicals per unit area than any other crop is used, which is about 16% of world’s pesticides. These kind of chemicals pollute the air and the waters, they may also irritate the skin of consumer of these products.

By production of organic cotton crop rotation and biological pest control are used so that organic cotton has less impact on the environment than the non-organic cotton. Due to fact that no chemicals are needed for producing organic cotton, demand of chemicals are less. This causes that the environment is less polluted with less production & use of chemicals. In addition to this neither people nor animals are exposed to chemicals.

Similar to any other organic product, organic cotton must be certified. For example US Department of Agriculture (USDA) in USA and the Dutch organization SKAL in Europe, South America, Africa and Asia works to certify some of these organic production, as they regulate what is and isn’t allowed in these processes.

You can easily find organic cotton clothing stuff in stores of famous brands as it gets more popular everyday. While there isn’t any scientific data shows that organic cotton is softer and easier on your skin, it is obvious that many people suffering from skin dermatological issues can wear organic cotton clothes comfortably. Also to know that you can have a little impact on saving our planet and resources, would make you feel more comfortable than any other cloth.
